Engine Oil Dip Stick - Dip Stick Tube: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1
Remove the spark plug wire from the number five cylinder spark plug. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Harness Replacement (3100 L82 (VIN M)) in
Ignition System.
2. Remove the oil level indicator.
3. Remove the oil level indicator tube bracket nut from the oil level indicator tube bracket.
4. Remove the oil level indicator tube.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Clean the oil level indicator tube.
2. Apply sealant around the oil level indicator tube 12.7 mm (0.50 inch) below the bead. Use GM sealant P/N 12345493 or the equivalent.
3. Install the oil level indicator tube into the engine block.
4. Install the nut to the oil level indicator tube bracket.

Tighten the oil level indicator tube bracket nut to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
