Exhaust Manifold: Service and Repair
Exhaust Manifold Replacement (Left Front)
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Starting and Charging.
2. Remove the throttle body air inlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Powertrain Management.
3. Drain the engine coolant from the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Cooling System.
4. Remove the right engine mount strut bracket. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Bracket Replacement (Right Side).
5. Disconnect the radiator inlet hose from the engine. Refer to Radiator Hose Replacement - Inlet in Cooling System.
6. Remove the automatic transaxle vacuum modulator pipe. Refer to Vacuum Modulator Pipe Replacement in Automatic Transmission/Transaxle.
7. Remove the thermostat bypass pipe. Refer to Thermostat Bypass Pipes Replacement in Cooling System.
8. Remove the exhaust crossover pipe heat shield. Refer to Exhaust Crossover Replacement.
9. Remove the exhaust crossover pipe bolts to the left (front) exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Crossover Replacement.
10. Remove the left (front) exhaust manifold heat shield bolts.
11. Remove the left (front) exhaust manifold heat shield.
12. Remove the left (front) exhaust manifold nuts.
13. Remove the left (front) exhaust manifold.
14. Remove the left (front) exhaust manifold gasket.
15. Clean the left (front) exhaust manifold to the left (front) cylinder head sealing surfaces.
