Driver/Vehicle Information Display: Description and Operation

Display
Mode Display Table
The driver information display shall display the following: door ajar, trunk AJAR, LOW washer solvent, LOW TRAC, TRAC OFF, and CHANGE OIL
SOON information. The information is delivered to the driver through the telltale lamps or indicators. The telltale lamps or indicators will be illuminated
when either a grounding switch is closed or one of the pertinent modules provides a path to ground for that indicator. The driver information display
does not perform any self-tests or diagnostics and is used only as a communication device for the driver.
Dimming Control
Display dimming for the trip calculator shall follow the radio dimming characteristics. Upon activation of the park lamps, the display shall step dim to
maximum brightness in the dim mode. Further dimming shall be controlled by the PWM dimming signal of the I/P dimming control. The display will go
blank upon lowest dimming request of the dimming control.
CHANGE OIL SOON Indicator
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) will determine the amount of oil life from various sensors and inputs within the engine control system. When the
PCM has determined that an oil life of 0 percent is present it will inform the driver by turning on the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator by supplying
ground to circuit 803.
