15. Cooling pipe.

INSTALL OR CONNECT    

NOTICE:  Always use the correct fastener in the proper location. When you replace a fastener, use ONLY the exact part number for that application.
The manufacturer will call out those fasteners that require a replacement after removal. The manufacturer will also call out the fasteners that require
thread lockers or thread sealant. UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED, do not use supplemental coatings (paints, greases, or other corrosion inhibitors)
on threaded fasteners or fastener joint interfaces. Generally, such coatings adversely affect the fastener torque and joint clamping force, and may
damage the fastener. When you install fasteners, use the correct tightening sequence and specifications. Following these instructions can help you
avoid damage to parts and systems.

1. Position cooling pipe to reservoir inlet hose until properly seated.
2. Power steering gear outlet hose clip.
3. Position and align clips to cooling pipe.
4. Position cooling pipe to frame.
5. Power steering gear pipe clips.
6. Power steering gear pipe to clip.
7. Cooling pipe fitting to steering gear.

Pipe fitting to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).

8. Inlet hose to steering gear. Refer to POWER STEERING GEAR INLET HOSE UNDER POWER STEERING LINE/HOSE.
9. Power steering gear outlet hose clip.

10. Raise frame.

CAUTION:  When installing intermediate shaft make sure the shaft is seated prior to pinch bolt installation. If the pinch bolt is inserted into the
coupling before shaft installation, the two mating shafts may disengage.

NOTICE:  Set steering shah so block tooth on upper steering shaft is at the 12 o'clock position, wheels on vehicle are straight ahead and set
ignition switch to LOCK position. Failure to follow these procedures could result in damage to the SIR coil.

11. Position plastic cover and intermediate steering shaft lower bolt.
12. New rear frame bolts/screws. 
13. Lower vehicle.
14. Reservoir inlet hose to pump.

Tighten reservoir inlet hose fitting to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).

15. Tie straps to hose.
16. Engine mount strut at engine. Refer to ENGINE MOUNT REPLACEMENT in ENGINE.
17. Fill power steering pump reservoir with fluid.
18. Bleed system. Refer to BLEEDING POWER STEERING SYSTEM.  See: Service and Repair

Inspect

-

For leaks. Refer to STEERING TESTING AND INSPECTION PROCEDURES.

Return Pipe

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

1. Accessory drive belt. Refer to DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT in ENGINE.

NOTICE:  Siphon power steering fluid from reservoir before disconnecting lines to avoid spilling fluid on secondary timing belt cover. Use shop
rags when disconnecting lines to ensure any remaining fluid does NOT contact secondary timing belt cover. Power steering fluid can damage the
secondary timing belt.

2. Power steering return pipe from reservoir hose.
3. Power steering high pressure pipe from pump.
4. Raise and suitably support vehicle. Refer to VEHICLE LIFTING.
5. Right front wheel and tire assembly. 
6. Loosen right side engine splash shield. 
7. Right tie rod nut and tie rod from steering knuckle. Refer to POWER STEERING GEAR UNIT REPAIR.
8. Return hose clamp and hose from return pipe.
9. Lower vehicle.

10. Return pipe from vehicle.

INSTALL OR CONNECT

1. Pipe in position.
2. Raise vehicle. Refer to VEHICLE LIFTING.
3. Return hose and clamp to pipe.
4. Right tie rod nut and tie rod. Refer to POWER STEERING GEAR UNIT REPAIR.
