Camshaft Position Sensor: Description and Operation
Camshaft Position Sensor
Ignition System
DESCRIPTION
The camshaft position sensor is located on the top of the cylinder head towards #3 cylinder. As the camshaft turns a lobe cast on to it, the cam
sensor, pulling the cam signal line's applied voltage low. This is interpreted as a cam signal. The cam signal is created as piston #1 is on the intake
stroke.
CAM SIGNAL (CKT 630)
The PCM uses this signal to determine the position of the #1 piston during its power stroke. This signal is used by the PCM to calculate the
Sequential Fuel Injection (SF1) mode of operation. A loss of this signal will set a DTC P0342.
