Carpet Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to Seat Cushion Replacement - Rear (See: Seats/Seat Cushion/Service and Repair/Removal and
Replacement/Seat Cushion Replacement - Rear) in Seats.
2. Remove the floor mats.
3. Remove the right and left door sill plates. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement (See: Scuff Plate/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement) .
4. Remove the right and left hinge pillar trim panels. Refer to Trim Replacement - Hinge Pillar (See: Trim Panel/Service and Repair/Trim
Replacement - Hinge Pillar) .
5. Remove the right and left quarter trim panels. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter (See: Trim Panel/Service and Repair) .
6. Remove the hinge pillar trim panel. Refer to Trim Replacement - Hinge Pillar (See: Trim Panel/Service and Repair/Trim Replacement - Hinge
Pillar) .
7. Remove the driver's and passenger front seats. Refer to Seat Replacement - Front Bucket (See: Seats/Service and Repair/Seat Replacement - Front
Bucket) in Seats.
8. Remove the left knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement - Left (See: Dashboard / Instrument Panel/Service and Repair/Knee Bolster
Replacement - Left) in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
9. Remove the left closeout/insulator panel. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Left (See: Dashboard / Instrument Panel/Service and
Repair) in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
10. Remove the front floor console. Refer to Console Replacement - Front Floor (See: Console/Service and Repair/Console Replacement - Front
Floor) in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
11. On vehicles with automatic transmission, remove the floor shift control assembly. Refer to Floor Shift Control Replacement in Automatic
Transmission - 4L60-E/4L65-E.
12. On vehicles with manual transmission, remove the shift control assembly. Refer to Shift Control Assembly Replacement in Manual Transmission
- Tremec-6 Speed.
Important: To assist in the removal and installation of the front floor carpet, the carpet has been perforated from the front edge through
the center of the evaporator drain cut out, to the forward edge of the lower radio bracket.
13. Remove 2 retaining clips (1) from the front floor carpet assembly (2).
14. Remove 2 wire harness clips on the shift control assembly.
15. Disconnect the necessary console electrical connectors.
