1.

Disconnect battery ground cable.

2.

Remove steering column mounting bracket and unsnap switch connector from jacket.

3.

Remove steering wheel.

4.

Remove lock plate cover with a suitable screwdriver, Fig. 7.

5.

Remove ring and lock plate. Use caution to prevent shaft from sliding out bottom of column. Slide upper bearing preload spring and turn signal
cancelling cam off upper steering shaft, then the thrust washer off shaft.
