Wiper Gear Box: Service and Repair
Windshield Wiper Module/Assembly
Wiper Module Assembly Removal
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove washer hoses, then wiper arms retaining nuts.
3. Lift each wiper arm and insert a suitable pin or pop rivet completely through the two holes located next to pivot of arm.
4. Use tool No. J 6627-4, or equivalent to remove wiper arms from driveshafts.
5. Lift hood and remove air cleaner.
6. Disconnect harness connector from wiper motor.
7. Using a No. 55 Torx bit, remove two wiper housing attaching bolts.
8. Using a 10mm socket, remove three frame-to-washer assembly mounting nuts.
9. Remove wiper module assembly, Fig. 19.
10. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Install wiper motor in park position.
b. Install wiper arms on driveshaft, then install driveshaft to wiper arm nuts finger tight, then remove pin near each arm pivot.
c. Ensure distance between tip of the wiper blades and the bottom edge of the glass is approximately 5/8 inch for left side and 1&1/3 inches for
right side.
d. Hold blade tip when tightening arm retaining nut.
