Notice:  Refer to Fastener Notice  (See: Service Precautions/Vehicle Damage Warnings/Fastener Notice).

3. For vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, install the flywheel retaining bolts (1-8) to the crankshaft.

Tighten the eight flywheel retaining bolts in sequence for automatic transmission to 83 N.m (61 lb ft).

4. For vehicles equipped with a manual transmission, install the flywheel retaining bolts to the crankshaft.

Tighten the eight flywheel retaining bolts in sequence for manual transmission to 49 N.m (36 lb ft). After the proper torque has been
reached, use a J 36660-A  and tighten the flywheel bolts an additional 90 degrees.

5. If equipped with a manual transmission, install the clutch and pressure plate. Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement  (See: Clutch/Service and

Repair).

6. Install the transaxle assembly. Refer to the following:

7. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection  (See: Starting and Charging/Battery/Battery

Cable/Service and Repair).

Tighten the battery cable bolt to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
