Fluid - Transfer Case: Service and Repair
Transfer Case Fluid Replacement
1. Remove the No. 1 transfer case plug and gasket.
Note: When changing oil, recheck the oil level after driving.
2. Check that the oil level is within 0-5 mm (0-0.197 in) (a) from the lowest position of the hole for No. 1 transfer case plug.
3. When the oil level is too low, check for oil leakage.

When checking oil, make sure that the vehicle is level.

When adding oil, pour it slowly.
*
Add oil gradually at several intervals.
*
After leaving it alone for 5 min, check the oil level again.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (See: Service Precautions/Vehicle Damage Warnings/Fastener Caution)
4. Install the No. 1 transfer case plug with a new gasket.
Tighten the plug to 49 Nm (36 lb ft).
