Axle Beam: Service and Repair
Rear Axle Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (See: Starting and
Charging/Battery/Battery Cable/Negative/Service and Repair).
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (See: Wheels and Tires/Vehicle Lifting/Service and Repair).
3. Disconnect the 2 rear park brake cables from the rear brakes. Refer to Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement (All Wheel Drive) (See: Brakes
and Traction Control/Parking Brake System/Parking Brake Cable/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Parking Brake Rear Cable

4. Disconnect the 2 connectors from the 2 rear wheel speed sensors.
5. Remove the bolt (1) from the left rear speed sensor wire clamp.
6. Disengage the clamps and separate the left rear speed sensor wire from the rear twist beam axle.
7. Remove the bolt from the right rear speed sensor wire clamp.
8. Disengage the clamps and separate the right rear speed sensor wire from the rear axle.
