Eliminating Noise Symptoms - Reworking Seat Belt Height Adjuster

Symptoms

Rattling noises from around the seat belt height adjuster.

Causes and remedial action

Rattling noises can come from around the seat belt height adjuster caused by tolerances between the belt deflector fitting and fastening screw.

In the event of a complaint, two spring washers must be fitted on the fastening screw for the belt deflector and an additional clip must be fitted on the
adjustment fitting on vehicles manufactured before the specified date of introduction May 2005.

Preliminary work

Remove B-pillar trim panel. Refer to Removing and installing B-pillar trim panel.

Reworking seat belt height adjuster

1. Slide the slide -1- down out of the B-pillar trim panel -2-.

2. Sand down the bottom of the slide -1- in the marked area with a sander to obtain the dimensions -X = 45°- and -Z = 5 mm-.
3. Slide the slide -1- into the B-pillar trim panel -2- from below.
