Condition:

Alarm system activates intermittently. Battery discharges.

Repair Information:

The following contact areas should be checked:

Switch for Engine Compartment Light.

Check the operation of the engine compartment light by lifting the closed lid in the area of the engine
compartment light switch approximately 1-3 mm. If the light comes on or alarm activates with alarm
system switched on, remove the switch and install an additional washer (2 in Figure 1) PN 900 031 001

Note:

Operation of the engine compartment light can be observed through the cooling air inlet with the
spoiler raised.

Switch for Luggage Compartment Light.

Check adjustment of switch stop bracket. Mounting screws should be in the center of the elongated
bracket holes. Install larger washers on mounting screws;

Note:

If luggage compartment light is on, engine compartment light also comes on. Refer to Wiring
Diagram Sheets 1 and 2.

Alarm Contact on Radio Mounting Frame.

The alarm system uses an additional alarm contact on the right side of the radio mounting frame (CD
player excluded). An alarm contact insulator (Figure 2) is installed on the right side of the radio. Check
insulator for damage and proper installation.
