Power Steering Line/Hose: Locations

STEERING

The power rack-and-pinion steering gear is mounted on the front axle cross member with elastic mounts.

Steering torque is transmitted to the rotating piston valve of the steering gear via a steering column angled at two points. Power support is accomplished
with a vane pump, which is driven by a toothed belt off of the engine's right camshaft. Power assist is inversed proportional to the engine speed, i.e. there
is greater power assist in idle speed and low engine speed ranges than in the upper speed range. In this manner there is good road surface contact at
higher road speeds and easy steering, for example, while parking the car.

The supply tank for steering hydraulic fluid is located in the engine compartment and bolted on the right wheel well wall.
