Replacement of Cruise Control Linkage Rod and Lubrication of Relay Lever
ATTENTION:
Service Manager/Service Technician
This is to notify you of a voluntary Recall Campaign which involves 911 Carrera's 2/4 vehicles of model years 1989 to 1992.
Due to a manufacturing problem, the ball sockets on the cruise control linkage can break. If this should occur, the cruise control linkage becomes
detached on one end and could jam on nearby components. This could impair the throttle plate operation and prevent the engine from returning to idle.
In order to eliminate this problem, the cruise control linkage with plastic ball sockets will be replaced with a linkage with steel ball sockets. In addition,
the cruise control relay lever has to be lubricated.
A total of 11,091 cars fall within the scope of this recall. All potentially have the defect and will be recalled to have the cruise control linkage rod
replaced and the relay lever lubricated. The new linkage rod has steel ball sockets.
The VIN ranges of the affected vehicles in this recall are:

Porsche Cars North America, Inc. will notify all known owners of vehicles within the recall VIN ranges directly by first class mail during the week of
October 26, 1992. See enclosed copy of the Recall Notification Card to the consumers. A listing of all vehicles with owners' names and addresses in your
area, within the recall VIN ranges, will be sent to you shortly.
If a vehicle within the recall VIN ranges is in your dealership for service/repair or in dealer inventory, the Recall Campaign should be performed without
delay.
If the vehicle has been retailed or dealer traded, the dealer is to make the necessary arrangements to have the customer or receiving dealer contacted and
the Recall Campaign performed.
