911 Carrera 2 Targa F6-3600cc 3.6L SOHC (1992)
Clockspring Assembly / Spiral Cable: Service and Repair
1. Place front wheels in the straight ahead position.
2. Disarm air bag system as described under "Disarming and Arming Air Bag System.
3. Remove driver side air bag as described under "Driver Side Air Bag Module, Replace.
4. Remove steering wheel retaining nuts.
5. Place alignment marks on steering wheel hub and steering column shaft for use during installation.
6. Using a suitable puller remove steering wheel.
7. Remove steering column upper trim panel.
8. Remove contact unit attaching screws.
9. Disconnect electrical connector and remove contact unit.
10. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Prior to installation, ensure front wheels are in the straight ahead position.
b. New contact units are locked in the center position. Do not remove the lock until after the contact unit has been installed.
c. The center position of the contact unit is approximately 4 1/2 turns from either the left or right final stop. The two arrow marks on the contact
unit should be aligned when unit is centered.
d. After completing installation, arm air bag system as described under "Air Bag System Disarming And Arming."
