Concern:
A new starter with a different terminal configuration on the solenoid is now available for all manual transmission 911 C2/C4 from 1990- on and 911
Turbo from 1991- on.

General Information:
The new starter was introduced into production in 911 Turbo vehicles as of engine number 61M 01765. The new version starter has an additional
terminal (15A, required for mixture enrichment during the starting cycle) on the solenoid, and positioning of terminals 50 and 30 also differ from the
former version starter (Figure 1).

Repair Information:
When installing the new version starter, Part Number 965 604 104 00, into vehicles, proceed as follows:

1.

Disconnect the vehicle battery.

2.

On vehicles which do not have the new version starter as original equipment, the protective covering around the starter cable harness must be cut
back 15cm and removed.

3.

Route the starter cable as shown in Figure 1. (Terminal 50 must be routed exactly as shown by dotted line.)
