Valve Body: Service and Repair

1. Remove transmission underbody cover.
2. Remove transmission oil pan drain screw and allow transmission fluid to drain.
3. Remove transmission oil pan, then using a Torx T27 bit, remove transmission oil strainer.
4. Remove speed sensor holder and sensor, then remove sensor wiring harness from retainers.
5. Remove 13 hydraulic control unit retaining screws using a Torx T27 bit.Note location of retaining screws, as screw lengths of 65, 80 and 115 mm

are used.

6. Remove control unit from transmission, using care not to place tension on wiring harness.
7. Tag wiring harness push on sleeves prior to disconnecting from solenoids. Disconnect push on sleeves from solenoid valves.
8. Remove wiring harness from retaining clamps, then remove valve body from vehicle.
9. Reverse procedure to install noting the following:

a. Ensure wiring harness push on sleeves are properly seated on solenoid valves.
b. When mounting hydraulic control unit, ensure pin of notched disc projects into recess of selector slide.
c. Use care to install hydraulic control unit retaining screws in the same locations as removed.
d. Position control unit by placing notched disc to position 1 (1st gear), then push control unit back unit it rests against the notched disc.
