Pressure Plate: Testing and Inspection
NOTE: The MFZ clutch pressure plate from Fichtel and Sachs is not designed to permit reconditioning or repairing. Checking is limited to dry
cleaning and removing of dust with compressed air and emery cloth as well as a thorough visual inspection.

Clean clutch. Clean bearing surface of pressure plate with emery cloth, if necessary. Polish out burnt spots. Then blow out entire mechanism
thoroughly with compressed air.

Check tips of diaphragm springs for traces of wear from clutch release bearing. Wear to a depth of 0.3 mm is not significant.

Inspect bearing surface of pressure plate for cracks, burnt spots and wear.

Check deflection with a steel ruler. Pressure plates with up to 0.3 mm deflection inward (measured with a feeler gage blade) can still be used.

Inspect spring connections between pressure plate and cover for cracks. Check tightness of rivets. Replace pressure plates with damaged or loose
rivets.
