Subject:
"LUK" Dual Mass Flywheel
ATTENTION: Service Manager / Service Technician
This bulletin replaces Technical Bulletin Group 1, Number 9212, Book I, page 37.
Models Affected:
911 Carrera 2/4 1990 to 1994
Concern:
Installing the "LUK" dual mass flywheel.
General Information:
** The "LUK" dual mass flywheel is now approved for installation in 911 Carrera 2 and 4 from model year 1990. **
Repair Information:
The "LUK" dual mass flywheel may be identified by the starter ring gear which is welded onto the flywheel. The Motronic sensing ring is pressed onto
the "LUK" flywheel.
The Motronic sensing ring must not be used for holding or turning the flywheel by hand. If excessive torque is applied to the sensing ring, it could move
out of TDC position on the flywheel resulting in engine performance problems.
IMPORTANT:
When replacing the dual mass flywheel with the "LUK" dual mass flywheel, the flywheel to crankshaft bolts must also be replaced. These bolts are
shorter than the former version and are necessary due to a difference in the thickness of the "LUK" flywheel. The thrust ring for the flywheel bolts is
riveted to the flywheel. No separate lock ring or plate is used with the "LUK" flywheel.
