Work Procedure

Retrofitting an interference-suppression choke in the center console.

Disconnect battery and cover positive terminal.

Remove PCM unit; see Technical Manual, section: 91 10 19 - Removing and installing display and operator control unit (PCM).

Remove the center console covers in the driver and passenger foot-well area by pulling the covers forward and to the side.

Feel through the carpet for one of the two fastening screws of the dashboard bracket (Figure 2, arrow). Cut the carpet at this spot with a hole punch
or a sharp knife to expose hexagon-head screw. Remove the screw. Repeat this procedure to remove the fastening screw on the other side of the
center tunnel.

Install the interference-suppression choke, from the right foot-well side. The interference-suppression choke is mounted on top of the carpet
(Figure 3, arrow). Fasten the interference-suppression choke and the dashboard bracket with the new M6x25 hexagon-head bolts to the center
tunnel. Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ft lb.)

Note:

After installing, check for sufficient clearance between the interference-suppression choke and the foot-well vent (> 5 mm). If the clearance is
less than 5 mm, stick the supplied piece of foam insulation onto the foot-well vent (in the gap) to avoid rattles.

Guide the wiring harness upward between the foot-well vent and B+ wire into the left hand side of the PCM installation slot.

7.

Separate the PCM power harness wires (black plug) from the main PCM harness wires back about four inches. Re-tape both harnesses.

8.

Connect the black vehicle harness plug (for the PCM) to the black plug of the harness for the interference-suppression choke.

Caution!

Because of confined installation conditions! there is the risk of damage to the wiring harness during installation if the plug housings are pulled!

When fitting the wiring harness! hold it by the protective sheath between the Interference-suppression choke and the first plug housing.

Before installing the PCM unit, check the alarm contact insulating strip for correct seating and arrangement. Replace the insulating strip if
necessary (must be double-layered).

9.

Connect the gray plug of the interference-suppression choke wiring harness to the PCM unit. Connect the remaining PCM plug connections and
install it into position. See Technical Manual, section: 91 10 19 - Removing and installing display and operator control unit (PCM).
