2.11 Remove the panel (Figure 8). Unscrew the 6 T20 Torx screws from the front of the roof frame. If present, remove the felt bond at the top between

roof frame 1 and the panel on the roof frame. Lift the panel up and off.

2.12 Check the upper side of the roof frame for casting residue or burrs (arrow, Figure 9). if necessary, remove by grinding or filing.

INFORMATION!

Casting residue and burrs may also be present on roof frame 1 on vehicles with a flocked panel. As a result, the flocking may become damaged in
these areas.

If this happens the upper side of roof frame 1 should be reworked (grinding of filing away of residue). if necessary, the panel should be replaced.

The surface should also be checked if the convertible top is being replaced.

Installing the panel and reassembling the convertible-top:

3.1

Position the 6 clips, P/N 996.561.731.00 of the new panel and turn it until the clip engages (Figure 10). Position the panel on the roof frame.
Install and tighten the 6 T20 Torx screws to 2.8 Nm (2 ft.lb.).
