Crankshaft: Service and Repair

DISASSEMBLING AND ASSEMBLING CRANKSHAFT 

Clamping Crankshaft 

Bolt crankshaft on holder P 209 a with bolts, Part No.928 102 151 01. First remove 6 x 16 mm key with a pliers or drill a hole in the holder to take the
key.

Mounting Drive Gear for Clockwise Turning Distributor 

If the drive gear is only marked with the Porsche trademark, it must face the pulley when installed in correct position. If the drive gear is marked with an
electrically inscribed "X", the Porsche trademark is not applicable and, in this case, the "X" mark faces the pulley.
If the drive gear is not positioned correctly, the basic timing will deviate by 13° on crankshaft.

Installing Circlip on Crankshaft 

Circlips are available in different thicknesses for adjustment of the distributor drive gear's axial play.
