Drive Belt: Adjustments

CHECKING AND ADJUSTING FAN DRIVE BELT TENSION 

Note:  Drive belt must be tight to guarantee fan cooling efficiency.

Checking

Check tension by applying thumb pressure at center of belt. Belt gives by approx. 5 mm.

Adjusting

1.

Tighten belt with shims so that center of belt gives under thumb pressure by 10 to 15 mm.

2.

Remove one shim from between both pulley sections and install it in front of the front pulley section. Do not change total number of 6 shims.

This will provide correct belt tightness, i.e. belt will give by approx. 5 mm.

Torque for hexagon nut, 40 Nm (29 ftlb)
