ATTENTION: Service Manager/Warranty Administrator

Technical Bulletins Group 4, Number 9006 and 9007 address new procedures to be followed when working on power steering pumps and racks.

During a recent investigation, we found that most of the power steering racks were not defective and the balance were damaged due to improper
packaging or boot damage.

The majority of replacement pumps were damaged due to foreign material.

The procedures as outlined in the above subject bulletins are effective immediately and must be followed to prevent claim rejection.

We also ask you to follow these additional guidelines when shipping parts to our Technical Service Center with parts submission requests:

1.

Use the special shipping box in which the steering gear was packed.

2.

Plug all hydraulic line ports with the shipping plugs supplied with the replacement parts.

3.

Reuse the rack plastic protective sleeves.

4.

Ensure that parts are tagged using a Porsche Warranty tag with all pertinent information and reason for replacement.

5.

Ensure the parts have the necessary core credit documentation.

Prevent costly unnecessary returns and claim rejection by strictly adhering to these procedures.
