Rear Suspension

Rear wheel bearings, removing and installation

Removing

1. Undo lock nut on driveshaft.
2. Disconnect brake line at rear-axle link and remove brake caliper. Press down brake pedal with pedal arrester beforehand to prevent brake fluid

flowing from the reservoir.

3. Disconnect stabilizer from rear-axle link.
4. Remove brake disc.

5. Lift rear-axle strut using special tool P 289. Undo shock absorber at rear-axle link.

6. Remove special tool P 289. Remove the driveshaft from the flange on the gearbox and pull out towards the inner side of the vehicle.
7. Remove splint and castle nut from handbrake cable. Pull out handbrake cable towards the inner side of the vehicle.
8. Undo rear-axle link at rear-axle cross tube and at the spring strut, remove.
