683149 Eliminating Noise Symptoms - Reworking CD box

Symptoms

Buzzing noises from around the CD box.

Causes and remedial action

Buzzing noises can be heard while driving due to tolerances between the CD box housing and the CD drawer.

In the event of a complaint, felt strips must be affixed to the CD drawer and CD box housing to remedy the situation on vehicles manufactured before the
specified date of introduction June 2005.

Preliminary work

1. Remove CD box.

Reworking CD box

1. Remove top and bottom drawer.

1.1. Release drawer -2- of CD box -1- at the control button -arrow A- and open it slightly -arrow B-.
1.2. Press in locking lugs at the sides -arrows C- and take drawer -2- out of the CD box -1-.

2. Stick felt strips on to the drawer.

2.1. Cut one felt strip measuring 60 mm x 40 mm.

2.2. Cut three felt strips measuring 8 mm x 8 mm.
2.3. Stick a felt strip -1- to the middle of the bottom drawer -3-.
2.4. Stick felt strips -2- to the top drawer -3-.
