Control Module Function

Replacing control module

CAUTION:
Risk of damage by the formation of corrosion in plug connections.

Protect plug connections against fluids.

Bear the following point in mind:

When a control module is replaced, the code must be set to the appropriate country region on the new control module.

Emergency operation

During emergency operation, the redundancy transistor is switched off. In addition, all the setpoints for the change-over and control valves are set to 0.
The emergency operation status can be reset using the fault monitoring function (faults that can be reset).

Minimal cycle

The minimal cycle differs from the emergency operation in that it cannot be quit using the fault monitoring function. If all faults are deleted using the
application aids, the minimal cycle is only quit after ignition off/on. In the minimal cycle, the programs are called up in the control module like in the
function mode.

Coding

The coding can be both checked and changed in this menu item.

Procedure:

1. Using the Porsche System Tester II No. 9588, select menu item 'Coding'.
2. The Tester displays the current variant as follows:

Vehicle variant

(e.g. 'RoW (PA1)')

To change the coding, proceed as described as of step 3:

3. Start the coding process with the [>>] key.
4. The Tester displays the possible variants as follows:

Vehicle variant

(e.g. 'RoW (PA1)')

'RoW (PA1)'
'Taiwan/Korea (PA4)'

5. Select the correct variant with the [up-arrow] and [down-arrow] keys.
6. Start the coding process with the [F8] key 'Coding'.
7. Wait until 'Coding has been changed.' is displayed.
8. End process with the [<<] key.

Reading out adaption values

The adaption values can be read and stored in the Tiptronic log with this menu item.

Procedure:

1. Using the Porsche System Tester II No. 9588, select menu item 'Read adaption values'.
2. Press the [F4] key.
3. Enter the correct chassis number with the [up-arrow] and [down-arrow] keys or [->] and [<-] keys and confirm with the [>>] key.
4. Wait until 'Adaption values have been stored in the Tiptronic log' is displayed.
5. End process with the [<<] key.

The adaption values can now be output in the Tiptronic log.

Resetting adaption values

After a repair or replacement of the transmission, the control module must "learn" the new transmission characteristics (adaption process). In order to
begin with a defined basic value, it is possible to delete the existing adaption values with this menu item.
