Removing And Installing Lid Release Motor

Checking inner release of luggage compartment (Trunk Entrapment)

CAUTION:  Stop the vehicle immediately when the warning light lights up.

If a person trapped in the front luggage compartment unlocks the front lid when the vehicle is in motion, the locking hook of the lower
part of the lid lock will open completely at a speed of less than 3 km/h (just under 2 mph).

At a speed greater than 3 km/h, the locking hook of the lower part of the lid lock will not unlock.

INFORMATION:  The test item >Checking inner unlocking (Trunk Entrapment)< has been added to the countries specification C02 (for USA) and
C36 (for Canada) from model year 2002.

Check whether the upper part of the lock automatically disengages from the lower part of the lock.

1. Engage the upper part of the lock = tool (Porsche spare part) in the lower part of the lock -direction of arrow-.

2. Unlock unlocking lever in the luggage compartment. Check whether the upper part of the lid lock disengages automatically.

Removing lid release motor

Remove front bumper, Refer to Removing and installing front bumper.

1. Unscrew both fastening nuts and take out the retaining strip.

2. Disconnect the electrical plug connection.

3. Unscrew the fastening screws and disengage the cable.

Installing lid release motor

1. Engage the cable and position the motor at the holder.

2. Screw in the fastening screws. Tightening torque: 1.5 Nm (1 ftlb.).
3. Position the holder with the motor on the retaining strip and screw tight with the fastening nuts. Tightening torque: 9.7 Nm (7 ftlb.).
