2. Put on and fit chain as described for cylinder bank 1 - 3.

3. Completely assembled and ready for installation. Do not remove the tensioning screw, special tool 9632 (with right-hand thread) or 9632/1 (with

left-hand thread) until the bearing saddles and the chain tensioner have been fastened on the cylinder head. If allocation is correct, the groove or
lug of the camshaft position sensor housing faces downward.

Note;

Modified tensioning element (VarioCam) as of June 1999. The tensioning screw has been changed to a left-hand thread. Can be identified by
the index (57) in the area of the guide rails.
