Oil Filter: Service and Repair
Engine Oil And Oil Filter Change As Of MY 02

Important: It is essential to observe the engine number and vehicle identification number due to new oil change quantities (also see Technical
Information No. 1/02 (Serv. No. 1716).

Because the oil change quantity has been reduced, a new oil dip stick will be used. Distinguishing features are shown in the following illustration.
Engine oil change (without oil filter)
NOTE: The oil filter only has to be replaced after every second oil change interval.
WARNING: Danger of scalding from draining and spraying oil when the engine is hot.
Wear protective equipment specified.
NOTE: To be able to fill the correct quantity of oil after draining the old oil, a dripping time of 20 minutes should be allowed.
1. Unscrew closure cap on the oil filler neck.
2. Undo and unscrew the oil drain plug (hexagon socket a/f 8). Drain engine oil in an oil collection container. Dispose of the waste oil in accordance
with legal requirements.
