Removing And Installing Drive Motor For Headlight Beam Adjustment As From Model Year '02

WARNING:  Danger of injury from high voltage:

The light should always be switched off when the components (control module, gas discharge lamp, drive motor) are removed and
installed.

-

The gas discharge lamp (D2S lamp) should only be operated when installed in the reflector and in the installed headlight.

-

A removed headlight does not have a high voltage.

Removing drive motor for headlight beam adjustment

1. Switch off light. Remove main headlight.
2. Unscrew the fastening screws -A- for the closure cap -1- from the headlight, press both locking tabs -B- and remove the rear closure cap (with the

control module).

3. Disconnect the electrical plug connection from the drive motor and undo the fastening screws -arrow- (2 screws).

4. Swivel drive motor to the side and remove towards the rear.

Installing drive motor for headlight beam adjustment

1. Install the ball head on the drive motor from the side into the ball socket for height adjustment and fasten the drive motor with both the fastening

screws -arrow-. Tightening torque: 4 Nm (3 ftlb.).

2. Engage the electrical plug connection on the drive motor.

3. Close the closure cap -1- until the locking tabs -B engage. Lock the closure cap with both the fastening screws -B-.
