Wastegate: Testing and Inspection

911 Turbo

1.

Disconnect control line to wastegate.

2.

With engine running at idle speed, ensure vacuum is present at control line.

3.

Increase engine speed. As engine speed increases, control line vacuum should change to boost pressure.

4.

Install suitable plug in control line, then carefully apply compressed air to control line opening in wastegate while listening for sound of wastegate
opening. Do not apply more than 21 psi of air pressure to wastegate. 

5.

If wastegate does not perform as outlined in step 4, replace it.
