Intake Air Temperature Sensor: Description and Operation
INTAKE TEMPERATURE SENSOR
To reduce the knock tendency of the engine at high intake temperatures, the engine is fitted with a temperature sensor (NTC) in the rubber shroud
between the mass air flow sensor and the throttle body. The signal of this sensor is processed by the DME control unit.
Modification of the timing angle towards "retarding" the timing angle is a continuous process and starts at an intake temperature of 25°C/77°F.
The current value transmitted by the temperature sensor may be retrieved in degrees Centigrade with System Tester 9288 in the "Actual values" menu
item.
