Aluminium sleeve on camshaft housing

4. Take off metal seal for camshaft housing and moulded seal for chain case.
5. Carefully clean the housing and sealing surfaces.

Installing camshaft housing

Caution
Risk of damage due to particles of dirt.

Danger of material damage due to blocked oil bores/oil ducts.

Absolute cleanliness is essential when working on the engine.

Lay removed engine parts on a clean base and make sure to cover them.

Use the cover for dust protection when fitting the engine NR.165 on the engine assembly support.

Flat-base tappets confused.

Risk of engine damage

Do not confuse flat-base tappets.

-

The flat-base tappets have been run in in their housing. Therefore, they must not be confused.

1. Fit new seals for camshaft housing. Observe marking.

Fit new metal seal. Markings must be facing you.

Side 1-3: TOP 1-3/left.

1.1.2.

Side 4-6: TOP 4-6/right.

Fit new moulded seal for chain housing.

2. Place camshaft housing in position.
2.1.

Be careful with the dowel sleeve -1- on the chain housing.

3. Screw in 18 Torx screws (M8) evenly and tighten according to the prescribed tightening sequence.
3.1.

Pre-tighten screws. - Initial tightening: 23 Nm (17 ftlb.)
