Concerns:
Reworking the instrument cluster in order to eliminate noises:
- Adding tricot tape and pieces of felt.

Spare parts requirements for instrument cluster.

Rattling/buzzing noises can come from near the instrument cluster due to tolerances between the dashboard inset and instrument cluster.

Since September 2005, pieces of tricot tape have been applied to the centering pins on the instrument cluster during vehicle production in order to
eliminate noises and pieces of felt have also been applied to the underside of the instrument cluster. (For details of remedial action for vehicles

There are no pieces of tricot tape or felt on replacement instrument clusters.

Action Required:

Before installing a replacement instrument cluster, apply tricot tape and pieces of felt.

Parts Info:

999.551.170.40 --> Tricot tape, 1 meter (enough for approx. 10 vehicles)
999.551.140.40 -->  Felt, 1 piece (enough for 1 vehicle)

Tools:
Scissors, ruler.

Work Procedure: 1
Applying tricot tape:

Attach a strip of tricot tape on each of the two centering pins for the instrument cluster (rear).

Cut off two strips of tricot tape, 999.551.170.40, each measuring 50 mm in length.

1.2

Pull off protective film on tricot tape (self-adhesive).
