Clutch Release Bearing: Service and Repair

Removing and installing release bearing

Preliminary work

1. Remove engine-transmission unit.
2. Remove the transmission.
3. Remove clutch.

Removing release bearing

Information
The snap ring can be fitted only using a workshop press. Use a block of hardwood as a pressure piece.

Overview

1. Position the release bearing -3- and press down on the pressure plate -6- using a suitable pressure piece (e.g. block of hardwood) until the snap

ring -1- can move freely.

2. Remove snap ring -1-.
3. Take off the release bearing -3-.

Installing release bearing

Information

Do not grease sliding surfaces of release bearing and guide sleeve.

The sliding surface of the release bearing is slotted irregularly. This is not a defect.
