Noise From Front Wheel Seal
From production date October 1988, a modified front wheel radial sealing ring is installed. The Part Number 477 405 641 remains unchanged.
When repairing cars with squeaking or whistling noise from the front wheel seals (prior to the above production date) install new type seals which can be
identified by a molded rubber dot next to the lettering (arrows in figure).
The space between the sealing lips of the sealing ring should be filled with wheel bearing grease prior to installation. Seals without the marking (rubber
dot) may be used up on 924, 944 and 928 Series cars.
