Brake Pad: Service and Repair
1.
Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
2.
Pull wear sensor warning contact out of inner pad plate.
3.
Apply pressure in center of housing retaining spring until it disengages from housing bores and remove spring outward without applying force.
4.
Remove dirt on guide pins between holder and housing.
5.
Pull plugs out of guide sleeve, then remove guide pins.
6.
Pull housing toward outside of vehicle to depress piston slightly, then remove housing and pull inboard brake pad out of piston.
7.
Position housing out of way and suspend from vehicle body with wire.
8.
Remove outboard brake pad from holder.
9.
Using suitable tool, bottom piston in housing.
10.
Clean pad gliding surfaces in housing and holder. Do not use mineral solvents or sharp edged tools.
11.
Check 20° piston position and adjust with special pliers as necessary.
12.
Push brake pad with riveted retaining clip into piston and place other pad on outside of holder's guiding surface on brake disc.
13.
Place housing over brake disc and brake pad and install guide pins.
14.
Insert plugs in guide sleeves.
15.
Insert housing retaining spring, ensuring it engages in housing bore.
16.
Insert warning contact.
17.
Depress brake pedal several times to position piston and pads.
18.
Add brake fluid to master cylinder as necessary.
