A loosely adjusted spur belt may rub on V-shaped support ribs on the rear spur belt cover. These ribs (arrows) are directly adjacent to the camshaft gear.
To prevent possible damage, the ribs have been eliminated for production as of April 24, 1984:
Engine No. 43E11333 (5 speed) 43E21383 (Automatic)
For adequate clearance on previously produced vehicles, remove the ribs during any repair which requires removal of the front portion of the spur belt
cover.
