All Porsche cars from model year 1989 on up are equipped with asbestos-free brake pads. Asbestos-free brake pads are also available for cars prior to
1989 model year.

WARNING:

Mixed installation of brake pads (with and without asbestos) on a vehicle is not permissible. When installing asbestos-free brake pads on cars prior to the
1989 model year, both front and rear pads must be replaced.
944 Turbo and Turbo S

944 Turbo S model year 1988 and 944 Turbo model year 1989 have vibration dampers installed on the front calipers between the pistons and the brake
pads. Brake pad thickness is reduced to 17.5 mm (was 18.2 mm). When replacing brake pads, the vibration dampers must also be replaced.
