Vacuum Brake Booster: Service and Repair

1.

Remove master cylinder as previously described.

2.

Disconnect vacuum line at brake booster and remove oil dipstick.

3.

Uniformly pry off fuel line holding clip on mounting bolt adjacent to adapter.

4.

Remove pushrod lock pin at brake pedal.

5.

Disconnect throttle cable at accelerator pedal, then pull down insulation sheet in footwell.

6.

Remove brake booster/adapter assembly mounting nuts, then remove brake booster from above at engine compartment end.

7.

Screw swivel joint on brake pushrod and adjust so that distance between circumference of larger lip and center of hole of pushrod mounting is
7.28-7.36 inches (185-187 mm).

8.

Attach brake booster to adapter in correct position.

9.

Install booster in vehicle, guiding in and mounting pushrod swivel joint on brake pedal.

10.

Adjust stop light switch as necessary by turning mounting bolts so that distance between switch and brake pedal is .197 inch (5 mm) with pedal in
neutral position.

11.

Mount fuel line retaining clips.

12.

Install master cylinder, using new seal between master cylinder and booster and new plugs for brake fluid reservoir.

13.

Bleed brakes and clutch.
