Air/Fuel Mixture: Adjustments

    The idle mixture on these models is not adjustable due to the addition of self-teaching oxygen sensor controls in the Digital Motor Electronics (DME)
circuitry.

944 TURBO MODELS
    

Perform the following adjustments with all electrical equipment off. Perform all adjustments as quickly as possible to prevent heating up

exhaust ports which would affect emissions. 

1.

Warm engine to normal operating temperature.

2.

Connect suitable CO measuring equipment to exhaust system test port following manufacturer's instructions.

3.

Measure CO content. CO content should be 0.4 - 0.8% by volume.

If CO content is not within specifications, adjust by turning mixture adjustment screw as necessary on air flow sensor. 

If mixture requires

adjustment, access must be gained to mixture adjustment screw as it is sealed with a concealment plug at the factory. To remove
concealment plug, refer to ``Concealment Plug Removal'' in ``Fuel Injection.''
