Selector lever button pops off when selecting drive positions.
Information:
The selector lever button can pop off the selector lever when the drive positions are selected. A modified button and compression spring has been
installed in Tiptronic equipped vehicles as of September 20, 2000, with the following VIN numbers:
98 31U 621001
98 31U 660698
98 41S 620189
98 41S 660186
The modified selector button can be recognized by the date of production (800 or higher 8 = month, 00 = year) which is molded into the underside of the
button.
The modified selector button and spring are available in a repair kit, and can be installed on earlier vehicles that exhibit this problem.
