Seatbelt Buckle Airbag Warning Light

Boxster (986)/Boxster S (986)

Model Year:
2000 (Y), 2001 (1), and 2002 (2) from production date 9/2/99 onwards

Concern:
Airbag warning lamp on with fault codes 45, 46, 48, 49

Information:
There has been a production change as of August 27, 1999 on VINs: (Zuffenhausen Production).

Vehicles as of the date shown have a new grounding system and the seatbelt buckle kit is NOT to be used on these vehicles.

If a code is generated, only the buckle for the side with the fault should be replaced. Also re-route the grounding for the faulty belt buckle:

Driver's side

Disconnect wire from connector X16 pin B8 (BR wire), run a separate wire from this connector direct to airbag ground point directly behind the airbag
control module on the right hand side of the tunnel.

Passenger's side

Disconnect wire from connector X17 pin BB (BR wire), run a separate wire from this connector direct to airbag ground point directly behind the airbag
control module on the right hand side of the tunnel.
