Back Window Glass: Procedures
Repairing Rear Window
Preliminary work
CAUTION: Risk of damage to the vehicle.

Risk of damage to the rear window, decomposition of the rear-window foam surround and damage to the paintwork on the
convertible-top compartment lid

Cover the convertible-top compartment lid area

Generously mask the rear window and convertible-top fabric close to the soldering area

Refer to Convertible-top service position
Preparing connection areas of the body for installing a new plug-in contact
1. Solder off the defective plug-in contact (lug of the plug-in contact has broken off).
2. Remove soldering tin and wipe all brown-coloured flux that emerges at the sides of the soldering area off the rear window coating.
Fitting plug-in contact and preparing for installation
CAUTION: Detached plug-in contact

Rear window heating will not work

Tin-coat the plug-in contact before soldering.

Soldering paste must always be used.
INFORMATION: A new plug-in contact must always be fitted. A detached plug-in contact must never be soldered on. Part No.: 000 043 206 90
1. Tin-coat plug-in contact. Use soldering paste.
2. Make sure the plug-in contact is positioned correctly:
3. Solder on at the standard position or offset within the soldering area if the coating is damaged.
4. The plug-in contact can only be fixed in place using fabric adhesive tape.
