5. Remove disc brake pads.
Removing 18-inch plus brake pads (as of model year 2008)
The core of the warning contact wire must not be left exposed! It does not matter if the insulation is worn!
If necessary, remove a little brake fluid from the expansion tank by suction to prevent overflow when the disc brake pad is pushed back!
1. Carefully press the brake pads back using water pump pliers.
2. Unclip the brake pad wear indicator wire and press the brake hose out of the fastening clamp.

Never use an impact bolter to loosen and tighten the brake caliper on the wheel carrier.

Do not open the brake system.
Do not loosen the brake hose from the brake caliper when loosening the brake caliper.
3. Get the transmission jack ready for the brake caliper and loosen the brake caliper.

4. Place the brake caliper on the transmission jack.

5. Carefully slide a commercially available screwdriver between the brake pad/brake caliper and lever the brake pad out by turning the screwdriver
slightly. When doing this, make sure not to damage the dust boots on the brake pistons -direction arrows-.
