3.4 Corrosion inhibition for Porsche vehicles

3.4.1 Information

Due to increased damage to the environment and heightened customer expectations, considerable demands are being placed on corrosion inhibition.

In order to fulfil these demands perfectly, high-quality body materials corresponding to the various requirements are developed further on the Porsche
models and combined with the latest production technologies.

The result is a design comprising:

-

galvanized sheet steel for all parts that require high strength and rigidity,

-

sheet aluminum for accessories with which it is possible to achieve weight reductions,

-

plastics, in order to exploit the outstanding, at times even unique properties of these materials and - in rare cases, magnesium.

3.4.2 Seam seals

Due to modifications to the spare part range, in the case of repair work, accessories must be sealed before assembly (painting) according to the following
illustrations.

The sealing material can be applied directly to the accessories coated with KTL paint (cathodic dipbath coating).
