To reduce the effort required in masking the sensors, the sensor packaging is designed so that it does not have to be removed when painting the
sensors.

New sensors come primed ex-works. Build up the paint layers in the usual manner for metal parts, making sure not to sand through the primer.

G 8.5 Painting Carbon-Fiber Components

Due to the properties of carbon-fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) components, certain exterior influences may result in the texture showing through the
painted surface (top paint coat).

This material behavior is caused by high surface temperatures and exposure to UV rays (sunlight). In addition to the previously named conditions, high
humidity also contributes to this effect.

This behavior is not considered a defect, but is a material-specific characteristic.

This effect may vary depending on the exterior color and the angle of view.

Over a wide range of temperatures, this behavior will not be present due to the materials used. There is another range in which the material surface
texture will become visible through the paint finish. This will disappear once the environmental conditions have changed.

If this extremely high range is exceeded, areas in which the material surface texture is visible through the paint surface may remain.

A special UV-resistant clear coat system is used for the carbon-fiber look components to prevent the surface from ageing and yellowing due to UV rays.
