Auxiliary Heating: Ticking Sound From Fuel Metering Pump
Vehicle Type:
Cayenne/Cayenne S/Cayenne Turbo
Model Year:
As of 2003 up to 2006
Equipment:
Auxiliary heating (I No. 7VL, 7VE)
Concerns:
Auxiliary heating:
Modified fuel metering pump mount (referred to as "metering pump" below).
Situation:
Operating noise (ticking) from metering pump can be heard inside the vehicle.
When auxiliary heating is switched on, the operating noise from the metering pump (ticking, approx. 1 Hz) can be transmitted over the body into the
vehicle interior and can be heard when the vehicle is stationary. The noise can no longer be heard once the engine coolant reaches a temperature of
approx. 167 degree F. (75 degree C).
The metering pump mount was modified as of the end of November 2005 (new rubber mounting support); the fuel hoses were adapted accordingly (-->
-X = direction of travel-).
Action Required:
In the event of a complaint, the new mounting support must be installed with the modified fuel hoses. The previously installed metering pump will still
be used.
Date of Introduction:
End of November 2005
